Maxo® is an innovative surface‑treatment process suitable for thixomolded and die‑cast magnesium and aluminum alloy enclosures, which can replace high‑voltage micro‑arc oxidation (MAO) and chemical passivation prior to painting. Operating at 50‑200 V, it cuts process costs by approximately 50 %, triples production capacity and reduces power consumption by 75‑90 % compared with conventional MAO. It produces a dense microporous oxide film of 4‑9 μm with strong substrate adhesion and delivers over 1000 hours of neutral salt‑spray resistance. The typical workflow consists of Maxo® treatment, dyeing and UV topcoating. Its fine‑pored film enables dye‑tinting.
